CHOUDRANT, LA. — Alan D. Arnold went home to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 22, 2007. He died at home after a brief illness.
He is the son of the late Norman L. Arnold and Corinne N. (Bennett) Arnold of Peru, N.Y.
He graduated from Peru Central School in 1965 and entered the U.S. Navy on Dec. 30, 1965. After fulfilling his military obligation, he made his home in Texas, where he met his wife Sherry (Eoff). They had three children, Jennifer Rummel (Lance) of Fortworth, Texas, A. Denise Blagrave (Len) of Haltom City, Texas, and A. Doug Arnold (Kim) of Bedford, Texas. He had four grandchildren. Sherry passed away in 1995.
He has since made his home in Choudrant, La.
He married Darnelle Thompson. He has three stepchildren, Shawn Sandoz, Cary Ashlak and Tressa Jaber and four stepgrandchildren, all of Louisiana. He is survived by his mother, wife, children, grandchildren and four brothers and one sister: Philip Arnold (Mary) of Grand Junction, Mich., Calvin Arnold (Loraine) of Rhinebeck, N.Y., Marti Burdo (Larry Cabana), Richard Arnold (Donna) and Tim Arnold (Jeanne), all of Peru, N.Y.
He was working for the Lincoln Parish School Board at the time of his death.
He will be remembered for his contagious smile and spontaneous wit. He was a generous man and loved by all.
