BLACK BROOK — A. Haven Gauthier, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Haven was born on May 22, 1923, to Albert and Rose (Seymour) Gauthier.
Haven owned Gauthier's Grocery in Black Brook from 1957 to 1988. He enjoyed talking to people, putting model planes together, jigsaw puzzles and riding his bike.
Haven was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook, The American Legion Post 504, Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945 in the Pacific.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Robert Lintner of Vermontville; and two sons, Jeffery Gauthier of Oregon and Marc Gauthier of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Haven is predeceased by his loving wife, Betty who passed away in March 9, 2000; his son, Thomas who passed away April 2001; and four sisters, Dorothy, Hazel, Mildred and Rhoda.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook. Interment will follow immediately in Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks.
