WINTHROP, Mass. — William. A. Macleod, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away April 14, 2007, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston, Mass., after a long illness. He was 80 years old.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., he was the beloved son of the late Helen (Locke) and William R. Macleod. Raised in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A graduate of Plattsburgh State Teachers College and City College, N.Y., he went on to teach in Tarrytown, N.Y., for over 30 years. During his retirement, he volunteered at the Bronx Zoo. William and his wife moved to Winthrop, Mass. in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Miller); and his son, Bill Macleod of Winter Park, Fla.; and his daughter, Mary Kiley of Winthrop, Mass. He is also the grandfather of Danielle.
A memorial service will be held from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son Funeral Home, Winthrop, Mass., on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m.
