WEST CHAZY — Willard A. Bulriss, 86, of Route 22, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side. He was born in Altona on Aug. 1, 1920, son of the late Napoleon and Roseanne (Lucia) Bulriss.
Willard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Audrey M. (LaPier) Bulriss; they were married on June 29, 1942, in St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy; three children and their spouses, Judy E. and John Averill of West Chazy, Arlene S. and James L. Defayette of West Chazy, Willard R. and Sherry Bulriss of West Chazy; seven grandchildren, Jill and Steven Rasco, Amy and Gary LaValley, John M. and Tracie Averill, Sara and Dale Gadway, Nicole Bulriss, Mindy Bulriss, Samantha Bulriss; nine great-grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Adam, Brooke, Evan, Cody, Ty, Payton and Madison; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Jackson, Tara Jackson; one sister, Edith Hemingway of West Chazy; and several nieces and nephews.
Willard was predeceased by a brother, Homer Bulriss; two sisters, Yvonne Deyo and Edna Rabideau.
Willard was a school bus driver for Beekmantown Central School for 25 years; he and his wife owned and operated a dairy farm his entire life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Willard was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories of the old times, farming and his school bus driving days. Willard enjoyed playing the harmonica, listening to country music and singing French songs to his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 30, 2007, 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 10. a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.
Donations in Willard's memory may be made to Masses or to St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.
