PLATTSBURGH - The funeral for Alice E. Van Brocklin, 61, 420 Burke Road, Plattsburgh, and formerly of 704 County Route 17, South Russell, will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. William Hart, pastor, Seven Steeples Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will be in South Russell Cemetery. A celebration of Alice's life will be held at Pour Ole Satch's in South Russell following the burial.
Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home. If friends desire, contributions may be made to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center, 3 Lyon Place, Ogdensburg, NY 13669, or the condolences may be sent online to
Mrs. Van Brocklin died Monday evening at Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh, with her family by her side.
Surviving are two daughters, Ronda Augustus and her companion Jeff King, Plattsburgh, Karen Kain and her companion Chuck Krywanczyk, North Lawrence; four grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Born in the town of Clifton on Feb. 21, 1946, she was the daughter of Stanley "Bob" and Vina Julia Walker Allen.
Mrs. Van Brocklin worked for over 35 years in the food services at St. Lawrence University, as a cook and cashier, retiring in early 2006.
She also enjoyed area casino slot machines, flower gardening and traveling.
