PLATTSBURGH — Adelia "Dee" K. Collins, 97, of Beekman Street, died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Saranac on Feb. 4, 1910, the daughter of Lawrence and Jennie (Irwin) Collins.
Miss Collins was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh and the Physicians Hospital Alumni. She loved to play cards and attend all the local church suppers.
Adelia graduated from the Physicians Hospital Nursing Program in 1933. She was a registered nurse at Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh and later a private duty nurse for many years. She also worked as a nurse for Dr. Silver for six years, retiring in 1972.
Survivors include one nephew, Harold Cromie and his wife Ruby of Saranac; four nieces, Mrs. Edward ("Dedee") Granger of Ocean City, Md., Mrs. Robert (Sarah) Koogler of Centerville, Ohio, Mrs. Angelo (Betty) Cometa of New York City and Mrs. Virginia Forstot of Grand Ledge, Mich.
She was predeceased by one brother, George Collins; two sisters, Sophia Cromie and Fannie Harrison; one nephew, Claude Cromie; and two nieces, Charlotte Barry and Lee Olive Harrison.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery in Saranac.
