About Foxy...


Foxy Gagnon is one of the North Country’s best-known pundits, raconteurs and general characters.

He taught eighth-grade English at Stafford Middle School in Plattsburgh for 35 years, having retired in June 2005. There, he came to know just about every child making his or her way through the City School District, and many of their parents.

Foxy Gagnon announcing the action at a local basketball game The kids he didn’t meet in school, he usually got to know through his more familiar enterprise — owner of North Country Cable Network, host of “Fox on the Run” and play-by-play announcer of myriad sporting events on public-access television.

He was a contributing writer to the Press-Republican Sports Department, with his “Where are they now?” feature from 1985-92. He is also a prodigious collector of sports memorabilia, particularly involving the Brooklyn Dodgers.

He’s a Plattsburgh native, graduating from Our Lady of Victory Academy in 1966 and Plattsburgh State in 1970. He knows the North Country as few others do.
